Excelsior 2000
Built from the Dave Smith kit. OS 140 with a Maurice Aldouse header and Bolly QN140 carbon tuned pipe. An excercise to build as light as possible yet durable enough to be flown from our small grass club site. Carbon fibre has been used to construct the wing joining / undercarriage retract unit mounts in one panel on the lower wing surface. EZ retract units were used with titanium legs and carbon fibre push rods to all controls. Profilm was used on all but the fuselage which was sprayed with Flair Spectrum paint on glass cloth and finishing resin. I will confirm the finished weight later. A little work is still to be done on the fuselage. JR radio gear is to be installed using a RD1000s receiver, two 7005 servos on ailerons, a low profile 703 for retracts, DS8411 on rudder, a DS8231 on elevator with a 341 on throttle. If I win the lottery before it flies, Duralite batteries would be nice, but first the OS 140 needs to be tamed on the test bench.
