Our Club in the 3rd Millennium
For many years we have discussed the possibility of laying a track down the field with car parking facilities. This would alleviate the need to run on the growing area and provide traction and a clean drive for members cars through wet and snowy weather.
A start was finally made on the 26 January 2005:
Friday 28 01 2005 Raining and cold
After replacing a hydraulic pipe on the digger arm progress was being made up the field on Tuesday 01 02 2005
Progress is slower than anticipated but by the end of the week the track is almost dug out.
We are promised the substrate will be delivered Sunday 6 February
Week beginning 14 February
The red and white area is a trial 'pilot standing area'
Third and fourth delivery of limestone 22 02 2005. Fifth delivery 24 02 2005 90 tonnes so far.
After a further load of limestone had been spread, Sunday 6 March, Kevin W. assisted me to redefine the edge of the track.
Another working party has been arranged for Thursday 10 March and I hope to continue on Saturday 12 March .
Any help would be welcome
Neil was missing from the photograph as work progressed. Load 8 and 9, 144 tonnes so far. Sam had the best idea!
Why is Brian standing so far back reading the instructions?
The roller arrived earlier than expected, 08.05am Friday 01 April 2005. Neither did we expect them to supply a driver.
Took a run at the opening in the clubhouse from the top of the field and just made it!
Saturday 02 04 2005 best weather so far this year a super day with a good turn out.
They also serve who only wait and mash.
Some sat around drinking tea while others just enjoyed the sun..... when all the work was done.
